Privacy Policy

Last updated 10 September 2026

Marquee Reader collects no data about you. You do not need a Marquee account. The app has no analytics, advertising or tracking. We do not run servers that receive your app activity. The app connects to your chosen feeds and to Apple’s iCloud as described below.

This policy explains where the app stores your data and which services it connects to.

What we collect

The app does not send us analytics, crash reports or advertising identifiers. We cannot see which feeds you read or how often you use the app.

We do not ask for your name, email address, or any other personal information, and there is no sign-in.

Where your data lives

Your subscriptions, folders, starred articles, settings, and downloaded articles are stored on your own devices.

If you are signed in to iCloud, some of that data also syncs between your Apple TV and the Marquee Reader Companion app through your own private iCloud database, using Apple’s CloudKit. Specifically: your feed subscriptions and their folders, your starred articles, your app settings, and articles you send from the TV to your phone.

Synced data stays in your private iCloud database and is covered by Apple’s Privacy Policy. We cannot access it. If you sign out of iCloud, the app continues to work on your device without syncing.

What the app connects to

Marquee Reader makes network requests to exactly two kinds of destination:

  • The feeds and websites you have chosen to subscribe to. The app downloads each feed to check for new articles, and downloads images and article content from those sites so you can read them.
  • Apple’s iCloud, for the syncing described above.

That is the complete list. There are no analytics endpoints, no content delivery networks of our own, and no third-party icon, image, or search services.

When the app requests a feed, the publisher’s server receives your IP address and the app’s identifier: MarqueeReader/<version> (Apple TV; +https://itr8.tech). The publisher’s privacy policy explains how it uses its server logs.

Site icons

The app downloads feed icons directly from the websites you subscribe to. It does not use a separate icon service.

Children

Marquee Reader is not directed at children and collects no information from anyone, including children. The articles it displays come from the feeds you choose to add, and their content is not under our control.

Your choices

We do not hold your app data, so we cannot export, correct or delete it for you.

You remain in full control of what the app stores locally: delete a feed or a folder to remove it, or delete the app to remove everything from that device. To remove synced data from iCloud, delete your feeds in the app, or remove Marquee Reader’s data through iCloud settings on your Apple device.

Changes to this policy

We will post any changes here and update the date at the top. If a future version of the app collects data, we will explain that here before the change takes effect.
